PURPOSE: To work as a key part of Broadway Baptist Church's staff team to enable us to live out our ethos as we offer love and practical support to homeless adults and adults requiring support on the Isle of Man, as part of our calling to share Christian hospitality and the ministry of Gospel hope.
OBJECTIVES: To show the love of God to people in need and share the Gospel with them in the following ways. We prefer to refer to those who come into contact with Graih Ministries as Guests; and who are resident at Waverley House as Residents, rather than service users or clients. The term Guests includes Residents unless stated otherwise.
To manage the Ramsey Drop-In, its staff and volunteers and to assist at the Douglas Drop-In, so as to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our Guests and to encourage sharing of faith in an appropriate, respectful manner.
To offer Christian pastoral support to Guests.
To develop social, spiritual and wellbeing opportunities for Guests.
Possible future requirement subject to Graih Ministries being registered to provide Social Care Services and NOT BEFORE such registration:
Being present or resident at Waverley House and supporting Residents as described in 1,2 and 3 above.
TASKS:
To manage the Ramsey Drop-In, its staff and volunteers and to assist at the Douglas Drop-In, so as to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our Guests, and to encourage sharing of faith in an appropriate, respectful manner.
Maintain a regular presence at the Ramsey Drop-In throughout the week, flexibly as needs arise.
Support Drop-In staff and volunteers; enabling them to be confident in providing a caring, effective and safe environment for Guests.
Assist with ongoing training and support for staff and volunteers.
Maintain appropriate records.
Work with Guests to help them to access services and support agencies.
Work with other professionals to offer appropriate services or clinics to Guests (for example: social worker, nurse, barber).
Support Guests in dealing with landlords, medical professionals, Government Departments e.g. DHSC with housing benefit, charities, etc.
Work with Guests to improve their general life skills, including domestic and budgeting skills.
Take respectful opportunities to share the ways in which Christian faith offers hope and effective recovery strategies to Guests.
Assist in managing stocks of clothing and food for Guests but not Residents.
Possible future requirement subject to Graih Ministries being registered to provide Social Care Services and NOT BEFORE such registration: Being present or resident at Waverley House and supporting Residents as described in CERTAIN PARAGRAPHS above.
Assist the Team Leader in preparing an application to the IoM Government for Graih Ministries to be registered to provide residential Social Care Services and to Assist the Team Leader in planning and preparing for such services to be offered.
