Our client seeks a IP Network Engineer to join their team. Role Profile: To be responsible for the engineering provision, development, management, and maintenance of the IP & MPLS networks, Corporate LAN, broadband RADIUS & BNGs, DDoS protection and related systems and platforms. To propose and develop appropriate operational, maintenance and provisioning procedures to ensure the reliability of the above networks meets customer requirements and service levels. Key Responsibilities: Operate, maintain and manage the IP & MPLS networks. Operate, maintain and manage the Corporate LAN. Operate, maintain and manage broadband BNGs. Operate, maintain and manage broadband RADIUS platform. Operate, maintain and manage DDoS protection systems. Operate, maintain and manage network monitoring platform. Configure and maintain the IP & MPLS product offerings. Assist Service Design in the planning, testing and implementation of enhancements and new technologies for IP & MPLS networks. Implement and evaluate IP & MPLS related solutions/technologies. Liaise with Product Management, Service Management and other internal teams as required. Assist the management team, as required, with the preparation of performance, growth, and budgeting information. Support the Security Architect in reviewing, implementing and ensuring the security strategy is implemented. If/when potential weaknesses, attacks, intrusions, unusual, unauthorised or illegal activity are identified, assist in the implementation of mitigations, including vulnerability management. Investigate security alerts and provide incident response within the IP domain. Support as required, from within the IP domain, integration with the security technology and tools. Support latest patch management and secure configuration best practises. Take a fully active role in the standby and call out scheme with a contractual obligation to provide call out cover on a rota basis. Work off-Island when required to do so. Be aware of performance standards for the group. Undertake supervision and co-ordination of consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors working on networks/systems that the team have responsibility for. Attain and maintain at least one relevant technical professional network qualification. For example: Juniper - JNCIP-SP, or Cisco - CCNP Service Provider. Key Skills and Experience: Essential: Prior knowledge and experience of configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware, specifically routers and switches. Prior knowledge and experience of configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting OSPF and BGP dynamic routing protocols. Strong analytical, problem-solving, & troubleshooting skills. Highly motivated individual. Well organised and methodical. Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff at all levels. Highly Desirable: Prior knowledge and experience of MPLS, L2VPN (point-to-point, VPLS), L3VPNs, traffic-engineering. Appreciation of the telecommunications/IT market and customers. A good understanding of broadband BNGs, PPPoE and RADIUSA, good understanding of DDoS protection. Education/Qualifications: Associate Cisco or Juniper accreditation is desirable. Professional Cisco or Juniper accreditation is desirable but not essential.
